Picariello unites tradition with a forward-looking modern spirit. Picariello is best known for his masterful portraits. It was under Mario Barra’s guidance that he experienced his first real approaches to painting. His artistic education continued at the Avellino Art School, which opened the world of ceramics to him. He works in his atelier in Avellino, a town near Naples in central Italy. His works reflect gift, imagination, poetry and a constant attention to reality. Colors enchanted Elio Picariello when he was still young, opening the path toward painting.
